Baseball Heads to Southwest Baptist for GLVC Road Series
The Illinois Springfield baseball team is back on the road this weekend, traveling to Bolivar, Mo., for a four-game GLVC series against Southwest Baptist. The Prairie Stars and Bearcats will square off in a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader on Friday followed by a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday—an adjustment from the series originally scheduled for Friday through Sunday.

Carmen Llopis Fabra Remains in National Rankings Ahead of Regular Season Finale
Illinois Springfield women's tennis standout Carmen Llopis Fabra continues to earn national recognition, coming in at No. 73 in the latest ITA Division II Singles Rankings released this week.
Llopis Fabra has posted a 7-4 singles record in regular season play this spring, consistently leading the Prairie Stars in competitive matchups. She will carry her national ranking into the final weekend of the regular season, as UIS faces Indianapolis on Friday and McKendree on Saturday.
UIS Women’s Golf Set for GLVC Championship
The UIS women's golf team is set to compete in the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, held April 25–27 at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill.
The championship format features 54 holes of stroke play across the first two days, with 36 holes scheduled for Friday and the final 18 on Saturday. The top four teams from stroke play will advance to Sunday's medal/match play to determine the team champion. The individual medalist will be crowned based on stroke play results.

Prairie Stars Tenth in Stroke Play at GLVC Championship
The Illinois Springfield men's golf team finished tenth overall at the 2025 GLVC Championship, which was held Sunday and Monday in Bolivar, Mo. After battling through rain and wind during Sunday's opening round, the Prairie Stars slipped in the standings over the final two rounds of stroke play on Monday.
Nyla Cooper Named GLVC Player of the Week
Illinois Springfield's Nyla Cooper has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Player of the Week after a stellar performance on Senior Day, helping lead the Prairie Stars to a pair of run-rule wins against William Jewell.
Cooper went 5-for-6 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs, posting an .833 batting average and a 1.333 slugging percentage across the two games. Her clutch hitting helped fuel the UIS offense throughout the day.
Ben Benoit Named GLVC Pitcher of the Week
Illinois Springfield's Ben Benoit has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Pitcher of the Week after a dominant showing in Thursday's win over Rockhurst.
Benoit was in control from start to finish, tossing a complete game and giving up just four hits and one earned run over seven innings. He struck out five and walked only two, leading the Prairie Stars to a 5-1 victory.

Julien Babineau, tied for fourth, reflected on his performance: "It was a really solid round today despite the rain and wind. I'm excited to put myself in a good position to compete for the rest of the tournament."
