The UIS baseball team faced a tough challenge in its doubleheader against Indianapolis on Saturday, falling 10-6 in the opener and 3-0 in the second game. UIS drops to 8-9, 3-4 GLVC, while UIndy improves to 8-10, 2-1 GLVC.

The Illinois Springfield softball team split a doubleheader against Southwest Baptist on Saturday, securing a 7-6 victory in game one before falling 9-5 in game two. With the results, UIS moves to 15-10 overall and 3-3 in GLVC play, while SBU stands at 11-13 and 5-1 in the conference.

The UIS men's golf team is set to compete in the SVSU Spring Invitational this weekend at Kearney Hills Golf Course in Lexington, Ky. The two-day tournament begins on Saturday, March 15.

The UIS softball team is set for a conference road stand in Missouri this weekend. The Prairie Stars will take on Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo., on Saturday, then Rockhurst in Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday. Both days will feature noon doubleheaders.

Illinois Springfield (14-9, 2-2 GLVC)
UIS hosted Parkside for a set of midweek games after opening conference play with a 2-2 record last weekend. The Prairie Stars fell 6-1 and 8-3 to Truman on the road before defeating Quincy 20-0 and 7-5 at home.

The Illinois Springfield baseball team secured a series-opening 6-3 victory over Indianapolis on Friday afternoon at UIS Baseball Field. The Prairie Stars improved to 3-2 in conference play behind a dominant start from Esteban Hernandez and three home runs from the offense.

Madelyn Miller, a junior on the UIS track & field team, secured Second Team All-America honors with a 10th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, marking her first national championship appearance and earning All-America status in her debut.

Miller ran 16:38.16, finishing within a second of her personal best and edging out athletes from the University of Mary and Grand Valley State.
