UIS Visual Arts senior group exhibition “OVER/LOOK” considers the past and looks to the future

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery presents “OVER/LOOK,” a mixed media exhibition of works by graduating seniors from the UIS Visual Arts Department. “OVER/LOOK” will open on Monday, April 25 and run through Thursday, May 12. A reception will be held in the UIS Visual Arts Gallery from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 28. This event is free and open to the public.

Honor Band Festival

The University of Illinois Springfield High School Honor Band Festival and Concert will resume in 2025. The festival welcomes participation from local and regional high school students that have been approved via the application process.

When: The UIS Honor Band will resume in 2025. Stay tuned!

Where: Performing Arts Center, UIS Campus

Eligibility: Local and regional high school students proficient in a band instrument (wind/brass/percussion) are welcome to apply.

UIS Visual Arts Gallery presents “Midway,” a survey of works by Chicago-based artist Ann Toebbe

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Midway,” a survey of works that span the last ten years by Chicago-based artist Ann Toebbe. “Midway”will open on Monday, March 21, and will run through Thursday, April 14. A reception will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24.

In conjunction with this exhibit, the UIS Visual Arts Gallery will host a remote artist talk at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 30. This event is open to the public. Participants can join via Zoom.

Lift Every Voice! Concert in Celebration of Black History Month

Join us for the first annual "Lift Every Voice" Collage Concert in celebration of Black History Month at UIS! The concert will feature numerous UIS student and faculty soloists and ensembles as well as invited guests including the Union Baptist Church Choir, the First United Methodist Church Choir, Kathryn Harris, Chenoa Alamu, and Jamar Scott. Opening remarks by Chancellor Whitney.

The UIS Visual Art Gallery's reception for the WORK/PLAY exhibition originally scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 17 has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The reception will now be held on from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24.

UIS Visual Arts Gallery presents “Charismatic Fauna,” a selection of works from the last 10 years by artist and curator Doug Stapleton

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Charismatic Fauna,” an exhibition by artist and curator Doug Stapleton. This exhibition will open on Tuesday, Jan. 18, and will run through Thursday, Feb. 10. A reception will be held on from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the gallery. Masks are required in the gallery and at the reception.

UIS Music Program welcomes students from all majors and colleges within the University to take classes in ethnomusicology, music history, music theory, and music performance. Introducing students to the academic study of music at the collegiate level, music courses offer students the opportunity to learn about diverse musical instruments and styles, to advance their performance technique, and to learn about various music career options.
