The Diversity Center, Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center, and Student Affairs are hosting the annual service for MLK Day to bring the UIS Community together to give back to our community. We have a fun service project planned that has an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
Let's jam to hip-hop and have fun!
Join us as we collab with Gender and Sexuality Student Services and discuss the intersectionality between queer identities, fashion and Black contributions!
Hosted by the Men of Color Initiative, come to the Bi-weekly Cards and Conversations. This is a time when we learn a new card game and talk about various topics. From financial literacy to building relationships, the conversations are wide-ranging and open to all!
Please join us at the Diversity Center as watch episodes from the short movie series, Eyes on the Prize, and have a meaningful conversation.
Equity is a moral, social, and economic imperative. The democratic and economic future of the state of Illinois and the country rests in our collective ability to get a greater number of citizens with a post-secondary credential. The equity gaps that persist in student outcomes at colleges and universities are rooted in the past and have endured over time.
Step Afrika
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities; traditional African dances; and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding.
