Dear UIS Colleagues —

It is National Volunteer Month, and I am always excited to see how dedicated our university is to serving the community and each other. This week, volunteers have the fun task of assisting and judging Springfest activities. Many of you have committed to volunteering for one or both of the upcoming UIS Commencement ceremonies in May. If you’re still looking for a volunteer activity this month, the UIS Volunteer & Civic Engagement Center has many opportunities available.

Remembering Dr. Ford

Please join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Clarice Ford at the Diversity Center (DC!) There will be an open-mic opportunity to share your favorite moments with her or how you have been empowered by her phrase “Whatever It Takes” 💕 #WIT #UIS

Join the Diversity Center in planting and decorating pots to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Ford.

Interim Dean Candidate Presentation

Members of the UIS community are invited to a virtual presentation by Janet Powell, candidate for the position of Interim Dean, College of Health, Science, & Technology (CHST), on April 20 at 12:45 pm. A link to a confidential feedback survey will be provided at the conclusion of the presentation.

Sister Cities International Nature Celebration

Study Away Programs at UIS and the Sister Cities Association of Springfield are collaborating on a celebration of the long connection between Springfield and Ashikaga, Japan and between UIS and Ashikaga University.  On April 30th, from 10am to 2pm, please plan to join us to enjoy the new plantings of trees on the UIS campus and to learn from campus and community groups including the Urban Forestry Commission, UIS Green Fee, UIS Community Garden, Springfield Civic Gardens, Springfield Arts Association, Springfield Karate, Springfield Disc Golf Club, UIS Music students, the T
