This session will highlight the Prairie Flag early alert system that allows faculty to communicate with advisors regarding students who may be struggling. This session will explain the system of surveys, how faculty can raise flags, and the process for resolving flags through advisor support and communication with faculty. Advisors will be on hand to share their experiences and how they work to resolve Prairie Flags.

During our session, we will discuss the importance of actively engaging students in conversations about artificial intelligence. We will share some potential syllabus language and assignment instructions that explicitly address appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI. We will share ideas for classroom activities and assessments that engage students in using conversational AI productively and intentionally, while clarifying their role as the expert and the critic of the chatbot output. 

This faculty workshop aims to equip educators with the necessary knowledge and tools to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for first-generation college students. The workshop will delve into the current state of higher education and the persistent challenges that these students encounter.
