Dear UIS Colleagues and Friends of UIS,

UIS Commencement 2025 is rapidly approaching, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make this year’s Commencement Ceremonies memorable for our students.

For faculty and staff awareness:

The following message was emailed to UIS students on March 6, 2025 regarding important commencement information to be aware of.

Dear students,

You are receiving this message because you may be eligible to participate in the 2025 Commencement Ceremonies. All critical commencement information will continue to arrive via your uis.edu email, so check your inbox frequently. You can also check the Commencement website for updates.

We are counting down until the 2025 Retirement & Recognition Ceremony where we will come together to celebrate our colleagues as a campus community. On April 17, 2025, we will celebrate our retirees for their service to the university. In addition to retirements, we will also be celebrating colleagues for milestone achievements of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service.

Please consider joining us in the celebration that will take place in the Student Union Ballroom from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

If you could not attend our Spring Employee Information Session on Wednesday, March 5, in Brookens Auditorium, the Office of Electronic Media has provided the following recording so you can hear updates about university priorities for the upcoming year from Chancellor Gooch and other members of Cabinet.

Dear Faculty,

We are receiving calls at the help desk from students who are having technical issues with their midterms because of the Respondus outage:

While the latest reports indicate that the situation is improving, I wanted to make sure that you are all aware of the outage in case it is impacting exams your students are taking today, and you want to extend deadlines as needed.

The 20th Faculty and Staff Campaign Kickoff is Thursday in the Student Union Ballroom! Here's the menu (and the associated viral YouTube videos) for the FREE LUNCH:

What’s your favorite season of the year and why?

My favorite season is fall. I love everything about it—the changing leaves, the crisp weather and, most importantly, Halloween.

Visiting Pumpkin Creek Farm has become a yearly tradition for my family, and I look forward to it every year. We love their corn maze because it has trivia questions as you navigate through it. We’ve made it a competition to see who gets the most answers correct—competing with siblings is always fun! We can't wait to take my nephew this fall for the first time!

Hello Students,
