The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays and celebrations in Chinese culture. Also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival observes the evening the moon is at its fullest and brightest. The event coincides with the time of harvest in the middle of autumn. This particular full moon generally occurs mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar.
This fall the University of Illinois Springfield will be celebrating its 47th Annual International Festival. It will be held on Saturday, October 25, 1– 4 pm in The Recreation and Athletic Center (TRAC) at UIS. This is the longest-running event in the history of the university and will showcase a variety of cultures from around the globe. The theme of this year is “Around the World in a Day”. The Festival will highlight talent, food, dress, culture, and more from all around our world.
