2022 Constitution Day Event
Join us as we explore Lincoln’s legacy for contemporary society through the perspectives of 20 Illinois artists and a scholar from the United Kingdom. The UIS Visual Arts Gallery*, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and the Springfield Art Association are currently exhibiting 38 new works on Lincoln’s legacy.

All event proposals received by the Office of Undergraduate Education are reviewed by the University Requirements Council (URC). The URC reviews and approves proposals based on the event's relevance to two of the following ECCE student learning outcomes. All approved proposals are then ranked and prioritized based on their contribution to the semester’s program.
The primary audience for ECCE Speaker Series events is UIS undergraduate students enrolled in UNI 301. Our events are free and open to the public, so campus constituents and community members are welcome to attend as well. Size of the audience may range from 20-200 depending on interest in the topic and size of the venue.
When your event proposal is accepted, you are considered a committed host for your event. The presenter(s) are your invited guests and you are expected to provide accommodating hospitality for them. Additionally, you are required to take an active role in facilitating your event.

ECCE Speaker Series welcomes proposals from faculty, staff, community members and community organizations. Community members and organizations must work with a current UIS staff or faculty co-sponsor. The ECCE Speaker Series does not accept direct solicitations from speakers or their agents.
To be considered, your proposed event must fit two of the following ECCE themes of engaged citizenship:
UNI 301: Engaged Citizenship Common Experience (ECCE) Speaker Series is a required course for UIS undergraduate students offered on a Credit / No Credit basis. UNI 301 fulfills the Speaker Series requirement of the ECCE curriculum at UIS.
