The University of Illinois Springfield and the UPI Local 4100 Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty Union have reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a 3-year contract. Union members have agreed to resume teaching on Monday, April 20. Students should resume attending all scheduled classes.
The March installment of the Employee Development Series will be on Annual Evaluations presented by Kenzie Filchak and Drew Schlosser on March 31, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. Information from this session will be most beneficial to supervisors, but all are welcome to attend. Topics covered in this session include form functions, preparing for the evaluation discussion with employees, and avoiding evaluation pitfalls. The evaluation season will begin April 1, 2026, with evaluations due June 5, 2026.
As part of the university’s NorthStar strategic visioning initiative, the University is announcing a Voluntary Separation Plan (UIS-VSP) available for all employees who meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the plan including that they have satisfied the retirement age and service requirements under the State Universities Retirement System of Illinois (“SURS”) prior to August 15, 2026 and who have not provided a written notice of resignation or intent to retire from UIS prior to the Plan Effective Date.
Another round of Take Your Child to Work Day is happening April 23, 2026. We have a full afternoon planned that includes a dorm tour, exercise science activity, E-sports tour and more. We welcome up to 20 kids, aged 10-15 years old (7-9 with a parent present), to come and join us as we explore UIS.
All faculty and staff, excluding extra help (EH) workers, are required to complete the Faculty and Staff Title IX Training module - Building Supportive Communities: Clery Act and Title IX. This online course, hosted by Vector Solutions, addresses sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment in the workplace, along with current Title IX requirements. Completion of this course is mandatory for all faculty and staff and satisfies the requirements outlined in state and federal law.

We will celebrate our retirees for their service to the university and colleagues for milestone achievements of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service. This survey is being distributed to Civil Service, Academic Professionals, and Faculty employees at UIS.

University Archivist, Katrina Burch, will lead participants through a tour of the archives and provide opportunities for examining documents and learning more about our archival resources available to university employees.
This event will be held at Brookens Library on March 17, 2026 from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is not required.

Systems that we will be discussing and demonstrating include VSL, AVSL, FLRS, and Timesheets (Banner Self-Service).
