The UIS Orchestra is composed of UIS students, faculty/staff, and community musicians that perform a variety of works from the standard orchestral repertoire as well as new and innovative compositions.

The UIS Chorus is a mixed choral ensemble that invites participation by UIS students, faculty/staff, and community members. Choral repertoire includes a broad variety of styles and genres ranging from standard works with ensemble accompaniment to popular song repertoire. The Chorus performs at least one concert each semester.

The UIS Band is available to students, faculty/staff, and community members. As a traditional concert band, the ensemble performs a variety of repertoire for large ensemble. The band is particularly welcoming to general education students and to high school students that want to improve their performance skills.

The University of Illinois Springfield Music Program and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra [ISO] have joined forces in a new Partnership in Education and Civic Engagement.

The UIS Music minor is designed to help students increase their general music knowledge and acquire a basic understanding of diverse methodologies of music study. It introduces students to a range of musical instruments, styles, methodologies and career options.

Upcoming Music Events

The Camerata Scholarship is a generous Performance Scholarship available to incoming students of any major and is renewable for four years. Interested applicants must complete a UIS Camerata Scholarship Application Form, which includes a cover letter, resume and video audition. The resume should include musical training and participation in music activities, and the names and phone numbers of at least two references. Audition performances should include major and minor scales and two short pieces in contrasting styles (one slow and lyrical; one faster and more technical).
