Multiple Exhibits Featuring UIS Students and Alumni Work

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Program will present multiple exhibits featuring the work of its alumni and current students. All exhibits will open on Thursday, April 18, and run through Thursday, May 9, 2019. A reception for the alumni and student exhibits will take place simultaneously from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in the UIS Visual Arts Gallery and the Access Gallery. A shuttle will provide transportation between the two locations. Both exhibits are free and open to the public.

“Tectonic Soliloquy,” an Immersive Mixed-media Installation Exhibit

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Tectonic Soliloquy,” an immersive mixed-media installation by Minnesota-based artist Liz Miller. The exhibition will open on Monday, August 26, and run through Thursday, September 19. A reception for the exhibit will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 in the Visual Arts Gallery.

“To Unmake a Fold,” Exhibition Featuring Chicago-based Artists

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “To Unmake a Fold,” a group exhibition that features Chicago-based artists Mark Blanchard, Cass Davis, bena foli and Kelly Kristin Jones. The exhibition will open on Monday, Jan. 13 and run through Thursday, Feb. 20. A reception for the exhibit will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 in the Visual Arts Gallery.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A BROWN BUFFALO II,” an exhibition by St. Louis-based artist José Guadalupe Garza. There's something strange growing at the University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery. Fittingly, the gallery is attached to the Health and Sciences Building, because the current exhibit looks as though some wild experiments made their way into the art space. Only, these plants dance and sing. They are robotic. In fact, one resembles some sort of animal, with a little tail that wags if you touch it just so.

UIS Visual Arts Gallery to present 180,000+, an exhibition that combines activism, research and ecological awareness by PlantBot Genetics

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 180,000+, a mixed-media art exhibition by Wendy DesChene and Jeff Schmuki. These artists operate under the guise of PlantBot Genetics, a parody of Big Agricultural Firms who skillfully manipulate current food production and distribution systems. 180,000+ will open on Monday, Aug. 23, and will run through Thursday, Sept. 16.
