The UIS women's soccer team took on the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Friday night to celebrate Homecoming. A second-half surge propelled the Prairie Stars to a 3-1 win to move to 3-1-3 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play. SBU drops to 0-5-2 and 0-3-1 in GLVC play. 

Game Summary

• The Bearcats took a lead in the 12th minute following a corner kick. UIS was unable to clear their defensive line and Tamerra Gantt bundled home the opener. 

• UIS dominated proceedings for the rest of the first half 

• The Prairie Star's pressure paid off in the 31st minute as Taytum Scarborough equalized, sneaking a shot by the Bearcat goalkeeper

• UIS began the second half with more energy and took the lead in the 50th minute through Dani Auble

• Auble picked up the ball, beat an opponent, and fired a low strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards out to give the Stars a deserved lead

• Both teams created chances as the game neared an end

• UIS added to their lead in the 79th minute as Carolyne Mathenia scored her first goal of the season
