The UIS men's tennis team participated in the ITA Midwest Regional Championship over the weekend in Grand Rapids, Mich., with five Prairie Stars competing in singles and doubles matches.

Singles Competition
  • Lin En Tan advanced through the Round of 64 with a 7-6(7-0), 6-1 victory. In the Round of 32, he was narrowly defeated by Lake Superior State's Driss Sedrati, with a scoreline of 7-5, 2-6, 10-6.
  • Kai Van-Roon faced a challenging match in the Round of 64, falling 6-1, 6-1 to an athlete from Northwood University. In the consolation Round of 32, he was defeated 6-3, 6-1.
  • Pablo Herrera began the tournament with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to an opponent from Grand Valley State. In the consolation bracket, he fought hard but ultimately lost 6-3, 1-6, 10-5.
  • Newcomer Jorge Roman fell 6-1, 6-3 in his singles matchup against a Northwood University opponent.
  • Lucas Pieringer, another newcomer, lost 6-0, 2-6, 10-4 in his Flight C singles match. He rebounded in the consolation Round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-3 win against a GLVC opponent from Lewis. In the quarterfinals, Pieringer secured a 6-2, 6-7(5), 10-8 victory but withdrew from the semifinal.
Doubles Competition
  • The duo of Lin En Tan and Lucas Pieringer defeated their doubles opponents from Cedarville with an 8-4 scoreline. However, they faced a setback in the Round of 16, losing 8-3 to Lake Superior State.
  • The pairing of Kai Van-Roon and Pablo Herrera fell 8-4 to a team from Wayne State in the Round of 32. In the consolation Round of 16, they were edged out 8-6 by William Jewell.
