The UIS softball program has announced the hiring of Reagan Miles as an assistant coach. Miles, an alum of the program and Springfield native, brings local ties and valuable experience to the staff.

"We are thrilled to welcome Reagan back to UIS," said Head Coach Shannon Guthrie. "She was a great leader for us in the pitching circle, and she is taking that same leadership into a coaching role. After her excellent career at UIS, she began coaching for local teams and organizations in the area and developed good experience on how to help develop pitchers. Reagan's enthusiasm and pitching knowledge is a great asset for us as she moves into a role of a pitching coach. She was a great player in the GLVC and is showcasing that knowledge to our players each day."

As a student-athlete, Miles posted a 4.06 ERA in 317 innings, recorded 28 wins, and struck out 268 batters. She was the 2023 Female Athlete of the Year for UIS Athletics, earned GLVC Second Team honors, and served as team captain. Additionally, she was a two-time GLVC Pitcher of the Week and multi-year Academic All-Conference honoree.

"I am incredibly excited to be back at UIS and work with such an amazing group of athletes and coaches," said Miles. "I could not imagine starting my collegiate coaching career anywhere else but UIS. I had the amazing opportunity to represent the university as a student-athlete and can't wait to give back to the program and the UIS community that has given me so much. I am looking forward to this upcoming season. Go stars!"

Miles, a graduate of Rochester High School, previously coached at both the junior high and high school levels in Rochester and is currently a pitching instructor at Tribe Softball Academy. She earned her undergraduate degree in criminology and criminal justice at UIS in 2023 and is now pursuing a master's degree in legal studies.

Miles joins the coaching staff of Shannon Guthrie, Ashli King, and Dan Frank.
