The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its all-conference teams on Tuesday morning, with four student-athletes from the UIS men's soccer team earning recognition. Noah Brill earned First Team honors, while Joey Fitzgerald was named to the Second Team. Anton Aduwa-Emovon and Kevin Herrera rounded out the honorees, each earning Third Team recognition. UIS has now had four or more All-GLVC selections for three consecutive seasons.
Noah Brill
Graduate defender Noah Brill was the team's lone First Team selection. As a key anchor on the team's back line, he started 17 games and played 1,493 minutes, including 14 full 90-minute performances. While his primary role was defending, Brill also contributed offensively, scoring goals in the 4-3 win over Drury and the 3-1 victory against Upper Iowa.
Joey Fitzgerald
Joey Fitzgerald, a GLVC Second-Team selection made a significant impact in just 12 appearances this season, recording three goals and seven assists for 13 points. He was named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week after a standout performance, tallying four assists and one goal in a weekend where he was involved in every goal scored by the team. Fitzgerald also contributed game-winners against Quincy and Southwest Baptist. He averaged 76 minutes per game, playing the full 90 minutes in three matches and over 80 minutes in four others.
Anton Aduwa-Emovon
Anton Aduwa-Emovon, a senior midfielder named to the Third Team, totaled nine points from four goals and an assist this season. He scored in three consecutive games early in the year, Parkside, William Jewell, and Truman State. His most recent goal came against Upper Iowa at the start of November. He started 13 of the 14 games he played in, and averaged 74 minutes per game.
Aduwa-Emovon was also the team's GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Honoree. Each institution names one honoree per sport each year, making them a candidate for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. At the end of the academic year, one male and one female student-athlete are selected as the institution's award winners.
Kevin Herrera
Kevin Herrera, a graduate forward, earned a spot on the All-GLVC Third Team after an impressive season, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists in 17 appearances. Four of his goals came in October, and he also scored the game-winning goal against Upper Iowa on Nov. 1. In his best outing, Herrera netted two goals in a non-conference matchup against St. Cloud State midseason.
