The University of Illinois Springfield athletic department proudly announces its recognition as one of just 43 NCAA DII schools nationwide to receive the Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence. This prestigious honor is awarded to NCAA Division II institutions that have achieved an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90% or higher. UIS earned an impressive 91% average of the last four years in the study, highlighting its dedication to student-athlete success.

Each year, the NCAA ranks member schools around the country based on their ASR, which measures the percentage of student-athletes who graduate within six years of their enrollment. The ASR provides a comprehensive view of academic achievement, accounting for transfers and including student-athletes who do not receive athletic scholarships.

This recognition places UIS among an elite group of institutions setting the standard in Division II, showcasing the university's unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence.

"This is an exceptional honor for UIS, recognizing the outstanding work by the student-athletes, faculty and staff during that time period," said director of athletics Mike Hermann. "UIS is one six public institutions to earn the honor, which demonstrates the high level of achievement by the UIS student-athletes and the keen focus on academic success by the institution."

The report also included the graduation rate of student-athletes, which was 11 percent higher than the student body of that same four-year time period.
