The University of Illinois Springfield student-athletes have set a new benchmark for academic achievement, earning a department GPA of 3.59 for the Fall 2024 semester. This marks the highest GPA in the history of the department, surpassing the impressive 3.56 GPA achieved in Spring 2024.
"What an unbelievable achievement," said director of athletics Mike Hermann. "I was impressed with the GPA from the spring semester, but to see our student-athletes surpass that average to arrive at a 3.59 is outstanding. I've not seen a department GPA at that level at any point in my athletics career. It's a wonderful achievement with credit to the faculty, advisors, coaches and student-athletes."
