The UIS women's basketball team put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to Quincy, 80-64, in the BoS Rivalry Cup at TRAC on Saturday afternoon. The game was competitive throughout the first half, with both teams exchanging the lead, but Quincy pulled away in the second half with a decisive scoring run. UIS drops to 3-11, 2-5 in the GLVC, while Quincy improves to 10-5, 4-2 in conference play.

Game Summary
  • Quincy came out of the gate strong, racing to an early 10-2 lead. However, UIS responded with a run of their own, tying the game at 10 midway through the first quarter. UIS shot an impressive 53.8% from the field in the opening period, while Quincy struggled at just 35.3%.
  • The teams stayed within two points of each other until halftime, with 10 lead changes and UIS holding a slim 32-31 advantage at the break.
  • In the second half, Quincy came out hot, hitting a three-pointer and converting two layups for a quick 7-0 run to take a 38-31 lead. UIS answered with a 5-0 run of its own to cut the deficit to one point, but Quincy's offense proved too much down the stretch.
  • The Hawks' balanced attack, led by Nicole McDermott and Acheampomaa Danso, helped them push the lead into double digits. UIS struggled to keep pace, and turnovers allowed Quincy to extend its advantage to 16 points heading into the final quarter.
  • Late in the game, Amaya Asher sparked a brief surge for UIS, scoring 9 points in just five minutes. However, Quincy held off the rally and ultimately secured the 80-64 victory.
  • Kayla Rice led UIS with 21 points, shooting 35% from the floor and adding 6 rebounds. Emari Doby contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds, while Saharra Murphy chipped in 10 points.
