The UIS men's track and field team showcased depth and dominance at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic in Louisville on Friday, highlighted by strong performances in the 3,000 meter run. The Prairie Stars competed against a competitive field at the event hosted by former GLVC opponent Bellarmine.

Meet Highlights
  • UIS set the tone early in the men's 3,000 meters, with Balin Doud claiming victory in heat one, running 8:36.02 to crack the NCAA DII top-100. Matt Padilla followed with a first-place finish in heat two, clocking 8:45.57, while Charlie Serrahn won heat three in 9:11.
  • Ryan Jones continued the momentum with a season-best 1:54.75 in the men's open 800, securing fifth place and a spot in the NCAA DII rankings at No. 46.
  • Freshman Dominic Cantarini made a strong debut in the mile, finishing 12th with a time of 4:21.60.
  • In the seeded men's 3,000 meters, Isaac Cortes finished fourth with a time of 8:26.08, earning an NCAA DII No. 52 mark behind a trio of NCAA DI athletes. Briar Nevills also impressed, taking eighth place in 8:35.20, which ranks him No. 86 in NCAA DII.
