The UIS women's tennis team opened its season on Saturday, falling 6-1 to the No. 11-ranked Washburn Ichabods.

- Carmen Llopis Fabra was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by Renske Ubachs in No. 1 singles.
- Ema Norma Bordean earned a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) victory over Daniela Tijaro in No. 2 singles, her first win as a Prairie Star.
- Niamh Grogan lost 6-1, 6-3 to Saajida Razick in No. 4 singles.
- Kamila Kalinowska fell 6-1, 6-1 to Peyton Koper in No. 3 singles.
- Jasel Bailey defeated Cristina Mendoza Romero 6-1, 6-1 in No. 5 singles.
- No. 6 singles was a default win for Washburn.
UIS will host Michigan Tech on Saturday, Feb. 15.
