The Illinois Springfield men's basketball team outlasted Maryville in a thrilling 84-80 victory on Saturday afternoon at TRAC. With the win, UIS improves to 11-12 overall and 6-9 in GLVC play, while Maryville drops to 7-15 (3-11 GLVC).

- UIS started strong, pushing ahead 12-5 early after a three-point play from Tye Banks. The Prairie Stars found success inside the paint in the opening minutes, countering Maryville's early three-point shooting. Midway through the half, UIS led 25-20, capitalizing on Maryville's defensive lapses.
- UIS extended the lead to 30-20 and maintained that margin for several minutes, but Maryville clawed back with a 9-2 run before halftime, closing the gap to 41-36 at the break.
- Maryville's offense came alive in the second half, taking the lead after finding success inside. UIS struggled from beyond the arc but managed to stay in the fight as the game remained tight. With 3:30 to play, a Tye Banks floater put UIS up by three, but Maryville quickly responded with a three-pointer of their own. Max Kunnert answered right back to tie it once again, increasing the game's intensity.
- In the final moments, UIS held a one-point lead with 33.3 seconds left. A Jack Weber layup extended the advantage to three with 14 seconds to go. Maryville's final three-point attempt missed, and Khalil Ross secured the rebound before being fouled.He hit one of two free throws, and a last-second full-court heave from Maryville could not have done enough damage even if it had connected.
- Tye Banks led UIS with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Ross contributed a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Weber added 13 points, and Evan Altman and Britton Dutton each scored 10. UIS shot 86.4% from the free-throw line, proving crucial in the final minutes.
