The UIS softball team has added two doubleheaders to its schedule after the Blue Bridge Battle was canceled due to winter weather. The Prairie Stars will face Thomas More on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT, followed by a doubleheader against Findlay on Monday at noon CT.

Illinois Springfield (4-4)
UIS has been out of competition since Feb. 8 due to weather-related cancellations and enters the weekend with a 4-4 record after two early-season tournaments. In their last outing, the Prairie Stars went 1-3 at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic in Bentonville, Ark. They battled in a 9-7 loss to Central Missouri and a 7-6 defeat against Northwest Missouri State before falling 13-0 to Washburn in a game that was scoreless through five innings. UIS bounced back with a 4-0 shutout of Missouri Southern to even its record.

Rosie Bartletti and Ella Brinkley lead the offense with eight hits apiece. Brinkley and Jacy Watts pace the team with five RBIs each. Bartletti has also been a force on the basepaths, successfully stealing 8-of-9 in eight starts this season. Brinkley has struck out just once in 25 at-bats.

In the circle, Addyson McClure leads the pitching staff with a 3-1 record in four appearances. She holds a 1.25 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. Taylor Zawacki (0-2) has recorded 20 strikeouts in 14 innings, while Bartletti (1-1) has struck out 23 in 15 innings. Alexis Carroll and Addy Girard have also seen time in the circle.

Thomas More (0-0)
The Saints have yet to open their season and have added games against UIS and Quincy this weekend after previous cancellations.

Thomas More was picked 11th out of 13 teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Saints finished the 2024 season with a 15-35 overall record and a 9-17 mark in conference play.

They return starting pitcher Kylie Ropp, who recorded three wins last season with a 6.90 ERA. Junior catcher Josie Wefer is the team's top returning offensive player after hitting .274 in 2024 with 34 hits, 14 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.

UIS and Thomas More were originally scheduled to play Friday afternoon at the Blue Bridge Battle.

Findlay (2-0)
The Oilers are 2-0 after sweeping Grand Valley State in an indoor doubleheader on Feb. 11, winning 6-1 and 8-2.

Freshmen Meghan Heinsman and Kenzie Woods lead the offense, both hitting .500. Heinsman has four hits, while Woods has three. In the circle, Emma Jones and Kora Navarro are each 1-0 with complete-game victories.

Findlay was also scheduled to play at the Blue Bridge Battle this weekend.
