The UIS men's tennis team is set to host a three-match weekend at the Springfield Racquet & Fitness Club, facing Southwest Baptist, Tiffin, and Hillsdale.
Illinois Springfield (0-2)
The Prairie Stars are looking for their first win after opening the season with losses to Washburn and Michigan Tech. Last weekend, Pablo Herrera and Jorge Roman picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles against Michigan Tech. Herrera also recorded his first singles victory of the season with a 7-6, 6-3 win.
Southwest Baptist (1-2) – Friday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.
SBU enters the weekend after a 4-3 loss to No. 23-ranked Drury on Feb. 9. Drury swept the doubles matches, but SBU responded by winning three singles contests, with Alejandro Beneyto (No. 2), Alejandro Bravo (No. 5), and Federico Riolo (No. 6) each earning victories.
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series 4-0, including a win over UIS in last year's GLVC quarterfinals.
Tiffin (1-6) – Saturday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m.
Tiffin is coming off a 5-2 loss to Purdue Northwest, where the Dragons won two singles points. Romain Marionneau (6-4, 6-0) and Janis Auslands (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) secured the victories. Marionneau and Martin Dresner lead the team with 3-3 singles records.
Tiffin defeated UIS 4-3 in their last meeting in February 2022.
Hillsdale (1-4) – Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12 p.m.
Hillsdale fell to both Davenport (6-1) and Ferris State (5-2) last weekend. Against Ferris State, the Chargers picked up singles wins at No. 3 and No. 6, with Alejandro Cordero Lopez and Samuel Plys earning victories.
Hillsdale leads the all-time series 3-1, with UIS last winning in 2019.
