Dissertation: "Exploring the relationship between work-climate of police departments and officer performance at work"
Bio: Chris Bitner graduated in 2013 and is a member of the 2008 cohort. Dr. Bitner is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at Western Illinois University. Dr. Bitner’s research interests include police workgroups, work-climate, performance, supervision, training, ethics, job satisfaction, health, and leadership. His teaching experiences center around: diversity and ethics, criminal law, homeland security, principles of terrorism, quantitative techniques, research methods, juvenile justice, juvenile delinquency, introduction to criminal justice, crime scene investigations, and contemporary issues in policing. Prior to teaching, Dr. Bitner retired as a sergeant from a central Illinois police department.
