Submit a Green Project Proposal

  • Apply for funding for your sustainability-related project!
  • Current UIS students, faculty, and staff can propose
    • Infrastructure projects (e.g. water-bottle filling stations, composting)
    • Short-term or ongoing service projects (e.g. environmental clean-up days)
    • Educational programming and outreach projects (e.g. recycling promotion events).
  • We will consider any proposal that clearly contributes to social, economic, or environmental sustainability on our campus or the surrounding community. Ideas do not have to be original. Feel free to bring something you love about another campus or community to UIS.
  • Collaboration among individuals or campus groups is strongly encouraged, and the number of supporting partners will be considered in the selection process.
  • If you would like to submit a Green Project Proposal for the 2024/2025 academic year, we will begin accepting these in Fall 2024.

Submission Steps

Step 1

You will first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) describing your project idea. The Green Fee Committee will review these and invite you to submit a full proposal. The LOI is a rough draft of your proposal. The committee will help you develop your idea into an effective, feasible project. If we receive multiple LOIs for the same kind of project, we will help you collaborate with other campus community members who are passionate about the same issue.

Step 2

After the Green Fee Committee reviews the LOI, we will invite you to submit a full project proposal.
Please do not submit a full proposal unless you have been invited to do so.

If you have been invited to submit a proposal:

If you need help developing an idea or writing your proposal, email us at greenprojects@uis.edu with your questions, comments, and concerns.
