Tuition costs at the University of Illinois Springfield will not increase for the 2023-24 academic year. The University of Illinois Board of Tustees decided to keep the current rates in place during their Jan. 26, 2023, meeting.
New incoming undergraduate students from Illinois will continue to pay the current tuition rate of $9,645 per semester (based on 15 credit hours). Graduate students from Illinois will pay $5,316 per semester for eight credit hours worth of classes.
“We know the price of college can be costly, that’s why we’re committed to keeping tuition costs affordable at UIS,” said Vickie Cook, UIS vice chancellor for enrollment and retention management. “Keeping tuition rates the same will give more incoming students a chance to earn their education at UIS.”
UIS offers a number of financial aid packages for undergraduate students, including Lincoln Merit Scholarships. Students are encouraged to apply for all scholarship programs including those based on high school GPA scores, those available for transfer students, and those scholarships that are need-based. Students can also apply for donor-funded institutional scholarships. UIS awarded almost $700,000 in donor scholarships to approximately 290 students during the 2022-23 academic year.
Graduate students may have the cost of their higher education offset by participating in the Graduate Public Service Internship Program or by working as a graduate assistant on campus. Both programs may cover the cost of tuition and provide a monthly stipend.
UIS offers classes both in-person and online. Students can choose from 56 bachelor’s degrees, 40 minors, 44 master’s degrees, one doctorate, 37 graduate certificates and coursework that leads to eight Illinois State Board of Education endorsements.
Prospective students can calculate their estimated UIS tuition and fees cost online.
