Ashley Lisenby, a 2016 graduate of the UIS Public Affairs Reporting program, was named Wednesday the new news director at St. Louis Public Radio.
Lisenby was most recently News Producer/Editor at Weekend Edition for NPR, where she pitched national and international news segments, produced host interviews, and wrote and edited audio scripts.
Prior to NPR, Lisenby served as Senior News Producer/Editor for WAMU, American University Radio in Washington, D.C. and reported for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Her PAR internship was with The Associated Press.
The University of Illinois Springfield's Public Affairs Reporting program master's degree program, launched in 1972, trains students to become journalists who produce intelligent news coverage about government and politics. The highlight of the program is a six-month internship covering Illinois government from inside the state Capitol in Springfield.
