The University of Illinois Springfield is proud to inform our community that its bachelor’s degree in business administration (BBA) in finance is a part of the University Affiliation Program with the prestigious CFA Institute, further solidifying the program’s commitment to providing students with a comprehensive and globally recognized finance education.
The CFA Institute, renowned for overseeing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter, requires students to successfully navigate three challenging exams along with acquiring qualifying work experience. UIS, through its BBA in finance, stands out by being part of the select number of universities affiliated with the CFA Institute.
Earning the CFA charter offers numerous benefits to students pursuing careers in finance. Globally recognized and respected, the CFA designation enhances career opportunities by showcasing a high level of expertise and commitment to ethical standards. Charter holders gain access to a vast professional network, valuable resources and numerous career paths across different financial sectors.
“Our affiliation with the CFA Institute not only elevates the quality of our BBA in finance but also opens doors for our students to pursue the prestigious CFA charter,” said Serkan Karadas, the PNC Distinguished Professor in Banking and Finance at UIS. “We are proud to provide an environment where students can not only excel academically but also prepare for a successful career in the finance industry.”
The CFA program not only develops essential skills such as analytical thinking and decision-making but also signifies a commitment to continuous learning. With the potential for increased earning potential and industry respect, obtaining the CFA charter is a powerful investment in a successful finance career.
As part of this affiliation, UIS ensures that its BBA finance concentration covers a substantial portion— at least 70%— of the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) for the Level I Exam. This commitment not only enhances the academic rigor of the program but also allows UIS to offer six scholarships a year to undergraduate and graduate students towards the cost of the CFA exams, cutting their costs by $1,000 on average.
