Dear UIS Community,

I am writing to inform you about an important update regarding campus parking fees for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. Effective August 2024, employee and student parking rates will increase by $2.50 per month for Residential, Economy, Standard and PERKS parking hangtags.

This decision was made collectively by university leadership, in accordance with the faculty union collective bargaining agreement, to support Parking Operations with covering increasing operational costs and to improve the maintenance, structure and safety of parking lots on campus. Parking Operations is a self-sustaining entity that does not receive any funding from tuition or the State of Illinois. The revenue necessary to maintain and enhance our parking facilities is generated solely through parking hangtag purchases, event parking fees, visitor parking fees and parking violations.

Employees currently using payroll deduction will automatically have their parking hangtags renewed July 8. There is no need to renew a parking hangtag from Parking Operations’ website. All other employees will be able to buy parking hangtags online by enrolling in payroll deduction or using a debit or credit card starting the week of July 8. Once employee parking hangtags have been automatically renewed or purchased online, they will be delivered to employees’ respective campus addresses on or before Aug. 1.

All students will be able to purchase parking hangtags online for the 2024-25 academic year starting the week of Aug. 5. Parking Operations’ website includes specific dates, times and locations for when students will be able to pick up their parking hangtags at the beginning of the fall semester.

Collectively, employees not enrolled in payroll deduction and all students must purchase a new parking hangtag online at uis.edu/parking. Parking Operations does not accept payments over the phone or on-site.

I appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this necessary adjustment to ensure our parking lots are maintained and safe moving forward. For additional information, please visit Parking Operations’ website and FAQs page.

Thank you for your continued support in enriching our campus environment.
