What was your overall UIS experience like?

My experience was very positive. I was there for only one year but made many relationships that have lasted longer than my time at UIS. I transferred in from Central Michigan where many of my credits transferred. I immediately felt welcomed and at home. I was a member of the record breaking UIS baseball team. My experience taught me that embrace new situations and new opportunities. Even thought my time was short I felt I made the most of my UIS experience.

Do you have any fond memories of your time at UIS you'd like to share?

I have many fond memories such as developing many positive relationships. We had great team success with the baseball team which enhanced the experience and memories we had. We had great role models/ leaders in Chris Rameriz, Ryan Copeland, Levi Petzoldt, Ron Wojcicki. This also lead to a relaxed fun environment to be around and in turn lead to our success as well. I will never forget the memories we made during that year.

Why did you choose UIS?

I initially chose UIS due to coaches reaching out and other friends attending the school. After graduating from UIS I realized I had found much more than that. I discovered great staff, friendly students, and a community continuing to invest in its school to enhance the experience for all those who attend or visit.

What has your career path been like? How did you end up where you are?

I have been a Special Education Teacher at Fisher grade school for 4 years. My Admin Jake Palmer took me on and has been developing me every year as a teacher.

How did your UIS education prepare you for your career?

I received a bachelors degree at UIS. My experience in that field as well as my opportunities with baseball has led me to some experience I wouldn't have had otherwise.

Do you have any cool hobbies/side projects you'd like to tell us about?

Other than teaching I love to host hitting lessons and camps for kids in my community. It feels good to pass the knowledge that I have gained in sports down to the youth.

What are some life lessons you'd like to share with current students?

A life lesson that I eluded to earlier is embrace new situations and new opportunities. What I got out that mentality was new relationships and new experiences. I felt blessed to be able to be apart of that.
