Praise Idowu is gaining valuable hands-on research experience with faculty at the University of Illinois Springfield. He’s working with Assistant Professors Kyle Blount and Tom Rothfus on two key research projects. In his work with Blount, he is using ENVI-met, a micro-climate simulation software, to study how urban heat and water transfer affect city residents’ comfort. For his research with Rothfus, he’s partnering with City Water, Light & Power (CWLP) to investigate recent taste and odor issues in the water supply by collecting and analyzing samples.

Idowu is part of the Capital Scholars Honors Program and serves as a peer mentor. He is also involved with Campus Movement (CAMO), the UIS Field Station and the Campus Observatory. He chose UIS for its beautiful campus, small class sizes and the opportunity to make a real impact in the community. After graduation, he plans to pursue a graduate degree in geophysics or computer science.
