Teresa Seacrist, parking manager for University of Illinois Springfield Facilities and Services, has been named the Employee of the Month for November 2024.
Seacrist oversees the university’s parking operations and is known for her exceptional service and dedication.
“Teresa exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding employee through her pleasant and helpful attitude,” her nominator said. “She consistently goes out of her way to assist others, treating everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of how often she has been asked the same question.”
Seacrist works long hours to support the campus community, particularly during the start of the semester.
“Her dedication to her role is evident in the extra hours she puts in before and after the start of each semester,” her nominator added. “Teresa ensures that all administrative functions related to parking are perfectly aligned, creating a seamless experience for both students and employees.”
Patty Meyer, Seacrist’s supervisor, emphasized her professionalism in handling challenging situations.
“She handles each person with respect and always stays calm and explains the process to appeal,” Meyer said. “There are many times I have heard people be very rude and loud with her, and she has remained very calm and eager to help them despite how she is treated.”
Seacrist also authored the university’s comprehensive Parking Policy, developed over six months, and leads the Parking Appeals Committee, ensuring a fair and transparent process for the UIS community.
“She always has an upbeat and friendly demeanor with everyone in every circumstance,” Meyer said. “She goes above and beyond to help others understand their parking hang tags and is especially wonderful with the students, making them feel at ease.”
Seacrist’s contributions extend beyond parking operations to supporting campus events and collaborating closely with departments, such as the UIS Police Department, to maintain smooth operations.
The UIS Employee of the Month award recognizes staff members who have made significant contributions to the university.
