The following message was emailed to all UIS students about mental health resources that are available to them as we near midterms.
Hello Students,
We are halfway through the semester. This can be a stressful time. Managing academic responsibilities and balancing personal life can be demanding. However, you don’t have to navigate these challenges on your own. UIS offers a variety of support services including the Counseling Center and Health Services. For more information check out the resources page on the Counseling Center website.
Early intervention can lead to better outcomes. Mental health screenings can help you identify symptoms early before they become more significant issues. For students with access to the UIS Patient Portal, you can log into your UIS Patient Portal and complete the UIS Mental Health Screening by 5pm on March 6th. Your answers will be reviewed by our team, and you will receive results and recommendations through the patient portal. You can also access a free, anonymous screening online.
To encourage participation in the mental health screening, UIS Student Affairs is offering the first 75 students to complete the UIS Mental Health Screening in the patient portal a $10 Starbucks card. If you are one of the first 75, you will receive instructions through the patient portal on how to pick up your card at UIS.
Remember you are not alone. In an effort to foster connection, UIS is pleased to introduce Togetherall, a free and confidential online community designed to support your mental health and well-being. Togetherall offers a safe space to connect with others and find the support you need.
If you need additional support, please contact the UIS Counseling Center, 217-206-7122 or counseling@uis.edu. To schedule an appointment, you can call, email, walk-in, or web book. The Counseling Center provides free services to on-campus students. Online only students can reach out to the Counseling Center for assistance in finding local support services in your area.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Together, we can foster a compassionate community that prioritizes mental well-being. Let’s continue to support one another and create an environment where everyone feels valued and heard. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thanks
UIS Counseling Center
