Dear Students, Faculty and Staff —
Over the past week, universities throughout the country have reported instances of students or recent graduates having their F-1 visa status terminated, often without notice to the affected individual. Our UIS International Student Services team has been closely monitoring the situation, and unfortunately, some students and recent graduates have had their visa status terminated.
While we cannot share individual confidential information, International Student Services staff have contacted affected individuals to share resources for immediate next steps, such as contacting an immigration attorney.
I understand the severity of this news and how unsettling it may be for those affected and their loved ones. We have created an informational website about immigration for our university community to better understand this and related situations.
Sincerely,
Janet
