
A group of four SPMP faculty and DPA students presented at the 2025 Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) conference in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Junfeng Wang presented a co-authored paper with Dr. Yu titled “Frontline Emergency Management Professionals’ Sense of Community Responsibility: The Role of Risk Decision-Making Structure, Established Partnership, and Perceived Response Efficacy.”
DPA student Ricky Ho presented a co-authored study with Dr. Yu titled “A Case Study of a Human Trafficking Investigation Involving Migrant Women in the Sex Trade and the Shift of a Victim-Centric Approach by a Canadian Police Service” and his research that could lead to his dissertation, titled “Enhancing Frontline Police Officer Decision-Making and Accountability: A Qualitative Study to Explore the Impact of Cognitive Training and Representative Bureaucracy in Simulated High-Stress Live-Fire Scenarios.”
DPA student Elihjah Eshun presented a co-authored study with Dr. Yu titled “Is Partnership the Way? Exploring the roles of Private and Nonprofit Organizations in Disaster Management”
Dr. Suyang Yu presented a paper titled “Citizenship Fatigue, Mental Health Crisis, and Turnover Among Emergency Management Professionals.”
