Miguel Valente is a leader on and off the University of Illinois Springfield campus. On campus, he’s the SGA senator for the College of Public Affairs and Administration, new member educator for the Delta Kappa Epsilon Kappa Beta Colony, treasurer for the Organization of Latin American Students and interns for the UIS Office of Veterans Affairs. Off campus, Valente is a member of the Illinois Army National Guard serving as a water treatment specialist. He says he most enjoys the “leadership opportunities, meaningful friendships and friendly community” at UIS. Following graduation, he plans to attend Army National Guard Officer Candidate School and attend graduate school at UIS.
