Katie Simpson is heavily involved at the University of Illinois Springfield. She is the student project coordinator for the Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center where she helps run the UIS Cares STARS food pantry, is one of the directors of the Leadership for Life Service Program and is a peer mentor and member of the Capital Scholars Honors Program. She is also involved in the UIS Theatre Program and is a member of the Psi Chi Honors Society. “My favorite thing about UIS is the personal feeling it gives,” she said. “From the first time I visited campus, I felt at home here.” Following graduation, she plans to earn a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and work as a counselor in a prison setting, or work with people who have been recently released from prison.
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
