Kate Hummel chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of the close proximity to
home, small class sizes and affordability. Hummel is heavily involved on campus as a desk
attendant for Residence Life, a peer mentor for the Capital Scholars Honor Program, secretary of
the Psychology Club and is on the welcome team for Christian Student Fellowship. Hummel is
also a part of UIS Club Volleyball, the Leadership for Life Service Program, the American Red
Cross Chapter, Pre-Health Society, Biology Club and music ensembles. When asked what she
likes most about campus, she said “the community.” Following graduation from UIS, she plans
on returning to school to earn her doctorate in occupational therapy
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every Day.
