Advising

The Exercise Science (EXR) Program uses a Shared Model of advising. As an EXR major you will have two advisors – an EXR faculty member and a College-Level Professional Advisor.

Students will be assigned an EXR faculty member to serve as your Faculty Mentor to assist with discipline specific questions and issues. In addition, Robin Vansacik will be the Professional Advisor for all EXR majors after the first year at UIS. As the department’s Professional Advisor, Robin will be one of the first points of contact for any questions you may have regarding the EXR program at UIS. You will work with her regarding class choices and registration, analysis of your degree audits and other important functions. She can also assist with referrals to other UIS offices and resources.

You should meet with your Academic Advisor and Faculty Mentor at least once each semester to plan courses for the next semester, as this will ensure the students are on track to meet their graduation goals. Send Robin an email or book an appointment as needed.
