Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP)

The Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) is a grant funded by the state of Illinois and administered by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, to provide need-based grants for undergraduate students pursuing their first baccalaureate degree. MAP grants may be used towards tuition and mandatory fees only. Independent students must be Illinois residents and dependent students' parents must be Illinois residents, and demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA® or the Illinois Alternative Application, in order to qualify. Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, and it is recommended that students file the aid application early each year to ensure eligibility.

The maximum amount of the grant program for 2023-24 is $8,400 for fall/spring semesters. There is no MAP grant available for the summer term. Students enrolled in less than 15 credits per term will receive a pro-rated MAP grant. In addition, the total maximum number of lifetime credit hours is 135 credit hours.
