Students interested in applying to an MLS undergraduate or graduate program must first apply and be admitted to UIS. After admission to UIS, students must submit a secondary application to the MLS Program to be considered for admission to an MLS student cohort. The MLS Program admits new students in fall semesters.
MLS Undergraduate Program Applicants
Undergraduate students should complete or be on track to complete all Pre-Professional Phase coursework before submitting the MLS secondary application. Required Pre-Professional Phase coursework includes:
- UIS general education requirements
- MLS prerequisite courses (must earn a C- or higher in each course and a minimum 2.5 GPA in the following eight courses):
- One semester of General Biology I
- Two semesters of General Chemistry
- One semester of Organic Chemistry with a laboratory or Biochemistry with a laboratory
- One semester of General Biology II or Microbiology with a laboratory
- Two semesters of Human Anatomy and Physiology
- One semester of Statistics
Undergraduate MLS students should consult with the MLS Academic Advisor and/or MLS Faculty Advisor for Pre-Professional Phase students as soon as possible to ensure they are on track to complete all requirements prior to the start of the Professional Phase.
