Autumn Harris says she loves the “very close-knit and community-oriented” feeling at the University of Illinois Springfield. “I chose UIS because of the smaller class sizes,” she said. “I like my professors to know who I am because it would make me feel more comfortable going to them if I ever need help.” Harris is a member of the Black Women of Excellence, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epic Praise for Christ Dance Team and is a UIS cheerleader. Following graduation with her master’s degree in Human Development Counseling, she plans to become a high school or college counselor.
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
