Hasani Cannon enjoys the “bond and relationships” he’s formed within the University of Illinois Springfield community calling them “long lasting and invaluable to my journey to success.” On campus, he is president of the African Student Association, Afro-Beat Dance Crew and the Art Student League. He is a mentor and member of the Necessary Steps Program and a member of the Black Male Collegiate Society. “I like the small, intimate class sizes that makes my interactions with staff, faculty, and with my fellow peers feel personal and memorable,” he said about UIS. “The cost was also more attainable compared to other schools and it’s not too far from my hometown. I like and appreciate the serenity the campus provides.” Following graduation, he plans to earn a master’s degree in drawing and painting and become an art professor.
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
