Isabel Lozoya chose the University of Illinois Springfield for its “reasonable tuition, beautiful campus and small class sizes,” she said. Lozoya is a graduate assistant for Hispanic/LatinX Outreach at UIS Diversity Center, a mentor for the Necessary Steps Program and serves as the president of Sigma Sigma Upsilon UIS Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota (Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International). When asked what she most likes about UIS, she said “I like the events that the Diversity Center, Women’s Center and Gender and Sexuality Student Services have every year to promote belonging, equity and social justice.” Following graduation, she plans to work at a mental health clinic as a licensed mental health counselor.
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
