Kaila Chambliss is president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the Voices in Praise Gospel Choir and is a member of the Women of Color Initiative. Over the summer, Chambliss was able to gain career experience as an intern with the State of Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology General Legal Counsel in Springfield. Her exceptional work ethic resulted in her internship extending into the fall semester. “I’ve been learning contract law, FOIA requests, ESI, litigation techniques, and many more attributes necessary for someone aspiring to go into law as a career,” she said. Her favorite part of UIS is the community. “I chose UIS due to the intimate class sizes, as well as the black community and ability to have everything I love from the divine nine dreams, to my major.” Following graduating from UIS, she plans to attend law school.
