Malea Jackson chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of the close community and the ability to get to know her professors on a personable level. Jackson is a part of the UIS women’s basketball team. Jackson was named to the All-GLVC team in 2021 and to the GLVC All-Freshman team in 2020. She is also ranked fifth in UIS record books with 75 three-point shots in two seasons. Jackson is also a club officer for University Bible Fellowship, works for Brookens Library and is a member of the NAACP. When asked what she enjoys most about UIS she said, “I like how there is always something going on around campus, and it’s inclusive.” Following graduating from UIS, she plans to go into occupational therapy.
