Major: Medical Laboratory Science
Future Plans: Earn a master’s degree in public health
Transfer student Millie Wallace says she chose the University of Illinois Springfield “because this university has so many opportunities for growth,” she said. “I genuinely felt welcome and was able to pursue the major I wanted.” Wallace is the vice-chair for the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science Illinois (ASCLS-IL) Professional Developing Forum. “I've had a great experience with faculty at UIS and many of my professors have been extremely encouraging and inspiring,” she said. “I really love how small the class sizes are because it allows for so much one-on-one guidance that has led to me being successful in my academic pursuits. Following graduation from UIS, she plans to earn a master’s degree in public health where she can specialize in research involving racial health disparities.
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
