The UIS men's track and field team is set to compete at Bellarmine's Jim Vargo Invitational in Louisville this weekend, with events kicking off at 4:15 p.m. Central on Friday and continuing at 11:00 a.m. Central on Saturday.

The competition will begin Friday with Aidan Donohue, Isaac Cortes, and Gabe Martinez in the invitational heats of the 1500 meters. Following those, the invitational heats of the 5,000 meters and the only heat of the 10,000 meters will showcase a significant portion of the UIS roster.

On Friday evening, Emma Leahy and Marissa Roggensack will race in the 1500 meters, followed by Lillian Buzani, Josslyn Gaona, Kaleigh Inniss, and Jordan Serrahn in the 5,000 meters.

The UIS baseball team travels to Fayette, Iowa, this week for a four-game GLVC series against Upper Iowa, featuring two of the GLVC's top-performing teams as of late. Both squads have reached 10 GLVC wins this season and will face off at Robertson Woods Field, beginning with a single game on Friday at 2:00 p.m., a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., and concluding with the series finale on Sunday at noon.

Illinois Springfield (17-10, 10-5 GLVC)

Due to inclement weather, the UIS softball schedule has been adjusted for the upcoming week. The Prairie Stars' doubleheader against McKendree, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 5, will now be played on Monday, April 7, at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Sunday's games against Maryville remain on schedule at this time.

Elaine Grant has been named the GLVC Women's Golf Player of the Week after earning her first collegiate victory at the Flyers Spring Invitational. Grant led the Prairie Stars with rounds of 73 and 74, finishing with a total score of 147 (+3) to claim the individual title.

Her steady play was crucial to UIS placing sixth as a team. In the opening round, she recorded 15 pars and a birdie for a 73 (+1), followed by a consistent final round with 16 pars to post a 74 (+2).

For the second time this year, UIS women's track & field standout Madelyn Miller has been named the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month. After first earning the honor in January, Miller reclaimed the title in March following a string of record-breaking performances on the track.

Miller, a junior distance runner, delivered an exceptional month of competition, beginning with a runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter race at the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships for All-GLVC honors.

The UIS women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Flyers Spring Invitational at Cantigny Golf Club, posting a total score of 663 after rounds of 328 and 335. Elaine Grant led the way, earning her first career tournament win with a stellar performance.

The Illinois Springfield baseball team secured a 13-11 victory over Maryville on Tuesday afternoon at the UIS Baseball Field, extending its winning streak to eight games. The Prairie Stars improved to 17-10 on the season and now hold an 18-16 advantage in the all-time series against the Saints. 

The UIS women's outdoor track and field team was selected 11th in the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) preseason coaches' poll, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
