UIS Police Training on Active Shooter Response

The UIS Police Department presents training classes on ways to minimize your risk during an active shooter / active threat incident. The next class will be on Thursday, October 5th, at 10:00am in Brookens Auditorium. The class will be approximately 1 hour in length. These classes will help you prepare for an active shooter incident and provide a forum to ask questions so you may become better educated on the actions that you can take to stay safe during this type of critical incident.

Forecasted Severe Weather - Friday, March 31

UIS Community,

We wanted to send out a quick reminder about the importance of being prepared, as severe weather is forecasted for our area later today. While notification systems are in place to send out information, you can also help keep yourself safe. Now is a good time to take a moment to go through steps you can take during an emergency weather event.

On December 6 at approximately 10 a.m., the UIS Police Department will be conducting a test of the Rave text message system in conjunction with the monthly tornado siren test. We will follow up the test with a brief survey (no longer than 12 questions) to help evaluate the effectiveness of the tornado sirens and the Rave text message system. We would appreciate your participation to help identify areas we need to improve.

UIS Police donate body armor to Ukraine

University of Illinois Springfield Police officers are helping people in Ukraine.

In a social media post, officials said they are donating eight used body armor vests. Those vests will first be sent to the Illinois State Police, who will then send them to the US/Ukrainian Resistance Foundation.

Armor vests are replaced by UISPD every five years, according to officials. “The vests are usually surplussed, but this year they decided to help Ukraine.”
